Post-holiday Budgeting Tips
The holidays may have encouraged you to splurge, but now is the time to get back on budget.
We all want to create a nice, memorable holiday season for our families. But as we plan, and certainly not in the moment, we don’t always remember the post-celebrating bills that start piling up.
If you overspent a bit this year, it’s not the end of the world. Here’s how to get back on track financially.
Make a Budget
This may go without saying, but the first step is to figure out what you’re working with. Determine what’s coming in, what’s going out and how much bouncing back will help you recover from the holidays.
One of the easiest ways to cut back on spending is clipping coupons. P&G everyday has millions of interactive community members, and you can get savings sent straight to your email or shopper card.
When it comes to finding coupons and saving dollars, it’s always nice to have a community behind you with the same money-saving commitment, so consider joining now if you haven’t already!
We’ve all been there before – you feel overwhelmed by the amount of choices available to you in the grocery store. (It’s no wonder we can spend hours on end in that place!) Instead of always reaching for the most affordable option, consider the overall value of the products you’re choosing. How long will it last? What’s the overall quality of this product?
P&G has a variety of effective, long-lasting products to provide better value for you and your family’s everyday needs! For example, Dawn® Ultra Dish Soap has 2X more everyday grease-cleaning power per drop* so you can get through more dishes with less. And Bounty® Paper Towels are 2X more absorbent** so the roll can last 50 per cent longer, so you can get more life per roll.
Join Loyalty Programs
Keep an eye out for loyalty programs at your favourite businesses. The coffee shop you visit every morning and your regular lunch spot are likely to have punch cards that can be used to earn a free cup or meal every now and then.
Better yet, put off eating out for a while. Instead, organize a potluck with friends, neighbours and family. Everyone’s got to eat, but this way everyone’s food budgets are a little smarter.
