1. Basic Cheese Ball Recipe
Prep time: 5 minutes
Set time: 3 hours
Serves: 10
Difficulty: Easy
Cost: $

Ingredients
125 mL (4 ounces) sharp cheddar cheese cut into several chunks
10 mL (2 teaspoons) Worcestershire sauce
225 grams (8 ounces) cream cheese
15 mL (1 tbsp) lemon juice
1 clove garlic, chopped
2 mL (1/2 teaspoon) kosher salt
1 mL (1/4 teaspoon) Cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Mix cheese, Worcestershire sauce, cream cheese, lemon juice, garlic, salt and Cayenne pepper in a food processor until fully blended
  2. Scoop blended cheese mixture into a bowl
  3. Get your hands slightly damp and pat the cheese mixture into the shape of a ball
  4. Pat garnishes like ground nuts, bacon, ground crackers or fresh herbs on the surface
  5. Set the ball on a platter or serving plate in the fridge for at least 3 hours to firm up

Tip: Serve your cheese balls with sturdy scoops, because the stiffer cheese can break daintier ones. Thick slices of cucumber or carrots cut at an angle are great matches for cheese balls.

Add a Flavour Kick with Blue Cheese
Switch up the flavours by replacing 55 grams (2 ounces) of the cheddar cheese with crumbled blue cheese. Serve this version with a side of dried cherries and pretzel chips.
