A Dip Worth Flipping Out About

This game-day dip favourite is a win-win: easy to make and delicious.

When it’s game day Sunday, we like to mix it up. Some weeks bring wings, layered dips and cheese sticks (with some celery and carrot sticks, too), while other weeks warrant pizza, nachos and cheese sticks. Yum.

But if there’s one go-to game day staple we can all agree on, game after game, it’s this slow cooker spinach dip. Artichokes and spinach make it versatile – even your veggie friends will love it. Serve it with chips, pretzels or any other dip-worthy snack – it’s that easy. And let’s be clear: We don’t exactly want to be working away in the kitchen by ourselves on game day …

Game Day Slow Cooker Spinach Dip

Serves: 8

2 395-gram cans (or 14-ounce) artichoke hearts, drained then chopped
225 grams (8 ounces) sour cream
1 225 gram (10-ounce) package frozen spinach, thawed moisture squeezed out
1 small onion, diced
175 mL (3/4 cup) grated Parmesan cheese
175 mL (3/4 cup) cup milk
125 mL (1/2 cup) feta cheese, crumbled
2 cloves garlic, crushed
75 mL (1/3 cup) mayonnaise
15 mL (1 tablespoon) red wine vinegar
1 mL (1/4 teaspoon) black pepper, freshly ground
225 grams (8 ounces) cream cheese, cubed

  1. Place spinach, artichoke hearts, sour cream, onion, Parmesan cheese, garlic, milk, feta, mayonnaise, vinegar and pepper into a slow cooker
  2. Stir until mixed thoroughly. Add cream cheese cubes on top
  3. Cover; cook on low heat for 2 hours
  4. Uncover and stir until cream cheese is mixed through. Cover and heat on high for 15 minutes

We use store-bought crescent rolls for a super easy prep.

  1. Simply lay out the rolls, separating them into their triangle shapes
  2. Dollop a large tablespoon of dip mixture on the roll
  3. Beginning with the wide end of the triangle, roll up and tuck the ends under
  4. Place each stuffed roll seam-side down onto a lined baking sheet
  5. Top each triangle with a heaping tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture
  6. Starting with the wide end, roll up each triangle, tucking the ends underneath
  7. Place each roll seam-side down onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet, and cook at 190 C (375 F) until golden brown, 10-12 minutes
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy
