At any other time of the year, your guest room probably doubles as a seldom-used storage room. If you’re expecting holiday guests, getting ready will be easy with these tips to transform that extra room into a welcoming, comfortable and clean guest bedroom.

First, find out-of-sight places for the items you’re currently storing in the guest room: Move them to another room, a closet shelf, an under-the-bed storage box or your basement or attic.
Vacuum carpets and rugs, or use a Swiffer Sweeper to clean dust and dirt from hardwood floors. Then dust the room, including lampshades and shelves, with a Swiffer 360 Duster. Put yourself in your guest’s shoes and lie on the bed – you’ll easily spot any areas you’ve missed (hello, ceiling corners!). After you’re finished cleaning, spray Unstopables Air Refresher throughout the room for long-lasting freshness.

Clear a drawer, shelf or section of a closet for your guests to store their clothes so they don’t have to live out of their suitcases. Make sure there’s a mirror somewhere in the room, too – hang one over the back of the door if you’re short on space.

Everyone prefers a different combination of duvets, blankets and pillows while they sleep, so give your guests a few choices. Include a selection of both firmer and softer pillows, drape a cozy blanket over the foot of the bed and leave some spare throws or a duvet in a blanket box or basket. Before your guests arrive, launder all washable bedding with Gain Flings Scent Duets to add long-lasting freshness to sheets, pillowcases and blankets, and add a Gain dryer sheet to the dry cycle to help prevent static and wrinkles. To freshen up duvet covers and decorative bed pillows, spritz them with Unstopables Fabric Refresher.

Clean towels are a must! Provide a bath towel, hand-towel and washcloth for each guest, either on the bed or in the bathroom.
Place a box of Puffs Ultra Soft & Strong tissues next to the bed, and include a small basket of toiletries in the bathroom as an additional thoughtful touch.

Place a lamp on the bedside table so your guests can read comfortably in bed, and make sure an electrical outlet is near the bed for charging cell phones and e-readers. A light will also help guests navigate the hallway in the middle of the night if they need to use the bathroom. If your house is particularly dark at night, leave a small flashlight in the bedside table drawer.

Stack some recent magazines on the nightstand, along with a couple of coffee table books and a local guidebook. Write your Wi-Fi password on an index card and leave it where it will be easily seen. Add a small television to turn the guest bedroom into a cozy haven they will happily retreat to. To help guests relax, plug in a Febreze NOTICEables in a calming scent like Mediterranean Lavender.
