Kitchens are often the main hub of a family home and, as a result, they require the most cleaning. From grease spatters to dishes and leftover food items, there is always something needing to be done. Follow this easy timeline to get those kitchen tasks completed quickly, leaving you with a sparkling clean kitchen in 30 minutes!

Gather your cleaning supplies. Keep kitchen-cleaning items together in one place and ensure they are easily accessible. This may take a few extra minutes to organize the first time, but it will save you a lot of time in the end. A cleaning bin or baskets underneath the kitchen sink are a great place to store everything you’ll need. Here’s a good general cleaning list to get you started:

0:01
Make sure any clean dishes from the dishwasher have been put away. Fill the sink with warm, soapy water. Note: If you do not have a double sink, dump any liquid materials or sauces from your dishes down the sink first.

0:03
Scrape all dishes into the garbage or garbage disposal. Place dishes either into the dishwasher or into the sink to soak. Fill larger pots or pans with soapy water and let them soak on the countertop.

0:07
Place all garbage into the kitchen trash. Sort any recyclable materials.

0:09
Put away any food items. Store in airtight containers and place in fridge or cupboards.

Clear any items that don’t belong in the kitchen off the counters and place in a basket to be put away afterward.

0:14
Spray down outside of the stove, tabletop and countertops with an all-purpose cleaner and wipe with a microfiber cloth or paper towel. If the stove has any burned-on messes, spray and let it sit for a few minutes while you complete the next task. Clean out the inside of the stove as well. Wipe any large messes from cabinets.

0:18
Wash all of the dishes in the sink and place them on a drying rack or towel on the counter to dry (or recruit a drying helper!). Wipe down the sink and faucet when completed.

0:25
Sweep the floor and spot-clean any spills.

0:29
Rinse out dishcloths. Hang cloths and towels up to dry or toss in the laundry if dirty.

0:30
Take out the trash and recycling.

Tip: Next, tackle cleaning the bathroom in 30 minutes or less!
