Even if your spouse and you have been together for years, it’s always nice to take time to reconnect over a romantic trip. What makes an escape unforgettable is truly putting aside the worries of everyday life and selecting an adventure that’s perfect for you both.
Making time for a wonderful escape just for two is the perfect way to create unforgettable memories. Here are three ideas to consider.
1. Cruise the Coast
No matter where you live, taking an extended drive along the coast is a great summer escape. Whether you explore the rugged territories to the west or venture to the east coast — and get some fresh seafood — there are amazing towns at every turn.
- Set aside a few days, a week or even a month to visit historic beaches, enjoy delicious seafood or simply watch a sunset on the beach
- Stay at bed and breakfasts to get unique, local perspectives
- Collect trinkets from each beach town you visit and always ask a friendly stranger to snap a photo of the two of you
- Plan a special dinner for two just as the sun is setting
Tip: Bonus for this adventure on the coast? Rent a convertible! With beautiful weather and the ocean breeze, even the long drive in between beaches will be memorable.
2. Festival Excitement
The summer months host an array of festivals in cities all over the world. Build a vacation around a passion you both share, such as food, art or music.
- Stay a while before and after the festival to really enjoy the city
- Set aside time for the two of you to explore hand in hand
- Try to keep your itinerary to a comfortable level — you don’t need to see every landmark
Tip: Take advantage of VIP packages and cut the hassle of planning. Let someone else worry about that!
Enjoy the company of other couples with shared interests by going out to exciting restaurants and dancing into the wee hours. Most importantly, try new things together. Attending a festival is an awakening experience. Eating new foods and learning about new artists will create unique memories for you to share and retell back home.
3. Honeymoon Part Two
Whether your honeymoon went perfectly or not, revisit the same city or country for a second round. Stay in the same beautiful resort, or live like a local by renting a house or apartment. Revisit all your favourite places, or try all the landmarks and restaurants you missed the first time around.
If your original honeymoon location doesn’t suit you anymore, maybe it’s the wrong time of year. Pick the alternative honeymoon that was a close second! Visit South America instead of Europe, Hawaii instead of the Caribbean — whatever your heart desires. Any new and exciting experiences will bring you closer together.
A summer escape can bring about new experiences you never thought you’d try. It is the process of sharing these experiences that creates romance. You can grow closer on the road, be entertained by your favourite interests and relax in paradise.
