Mani Monday: Minimalist

Mani Monday: Minimalist

Nail art, be gone. Here’s the latest in nail trends – and it couldn’t be more welcoming.

By: Sydne Summer

Nail art has been on the rise for a while now, but now it’s time for a change. Don’t worry, decorative details aren’t going away any time soon. But this spring, we’re predicting a return to the minimalist manicure. Why? Because it’s classic, timeless and easy to maintain.

Of course, we’d never bring you the basics without an updated twist. In fashion, blush was one of the biggest colours on the spring runways. Most designers paired the pale pink with black for bold contrast. Whether you’re making a statement with your outfit or keeping it basic, this manicure will lend a stunning, polished element to your look.

1. File Away
Start with an oval nail shape. Clip your nails to your desired length. Both long and short work for this trend — just make sure they are all even. Then file your nails from the side to the top to create a slanted line. Round the sharp corners with your file to create the oval shape.

2. Polish and Perfect
You can go neutral with a sheer polish or tap into spring’s icy pastel trend with an opaque pale pink.

3. Top it Off
Add a top coat every three days. This will help your blush mani stay extra glossy for an extended period of time.

What do you think about minimalist nails: classic or boring?
