Get the Look: Polished and Pretty Hostess

Try one of these nonchalant colour combos to root for the home team in style.

When you’re hosting a football fan gathering, there are so many things to think about: what to serve, how to arrange the seating so everyone can watch the game and how to make sure you don’t run out of food. On top of that, you can’t forget about what to wear! If you’re a die-hard fan, then yes, go ahead and break out that jersey over your skinny jeans. But if you’re looking for a more subtle way to support your team, here are four staples you can use on game day — and through the rest of the year.

The Scarf
A scarf is a great way to show your spirit. Try a printed scarf in your home team’s colour scheme. No matter what colours you’re wearing, any scarf will look great over a simple T-shirt and dark jeans.

The Statement Piece
Get into the game with bright jewellery. Start your outfit with a basic white T-shirt, skinny jeans and boots. Accessorize with a bold statement necklace and cocktail ring in the appropriate colours. A bangle-layered armful of team colours is equally festive.

The Sweater
Embrace the colourblocking trend by layering a sweater over a collared shirt. Try a bright red knit over a navy button-up. If your team’s hues include gold, a metallic-coloured sweater dresses up a black collared blouse.

The Jeans
Coloured denim is still very much on trend — and luckily there are so many affordable options! Try a vibrant pair of jeans in your team’s colour with a chambray shirt for a casual chic look.

The Look
Don’t forget about your makeup! This is football, so you don’t want to go all glam. If you want to try adding colour to your face, try it with eyeliner. A bright blue or teal swipe across your lids looks phenomenal. Or just keep your face mostly neutral with eyeliner, blush and lipgloss.

Then let your hands to the talking with some “nail-gating,” using shades of CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in your team’s colours. Your guests will “ooh” and “ahh” when you hand them a plate of wings with your fresh fan-icure!
