Use these tips to look your best and feel comfortable in your own clothes all night.

Date nights can be tricky during the summer. Since the sun stays up later, sometimes you feel uncomfortable dressing to the nines for a 7 p.m. dinner. Then there's the weather issue: One minute it's sweltering hot, and the next, a cool ocean breeze gives you the chills. Here are a few ideas to get you started for a night out with your man:

1. Colour blocking
Men love when women wear bold colours. And summer is the perfect opportunity to brighten up your wardrobe. Don't be afraid of going bold for a dinner date. An orange dress with blue heels? Why not?! Contrasting colours work extremely well together. Just balance it out with neutral accessories and more natural makeup.

2. Jumpsuits
Instead of a maxi dress why not try a jumpsuit for your next date by the beach? It's a bit sporty but still incredibly sultry. Look for special details, like a crochet back, feminine print or braided straps. If you go with a wide leg, you can wear comfier wedges underneath in case your date suggests an evening stroll on the boardwalk.

3. Bold Jackets
Usually you don't think of jackets for summer but it can get quite chilly at night. A bright blazer or printed jacket can really liven up an outfit. You can look laid-back with just jeans and a simple tee, then take your outfit to the next level with that one special piece. Then, use a great pair of pumps for an extra pop of colour.

4. Cutouts
Cutouts are a fabulous trend for showing just the right amount of skin. Look for dresses that are fairly conservative in front with a slit on the sides or back. It will leave him wanting more. Plus, it's a great source of ventilation during a heat wave!

5. Bandage Skirts
The trick is balancing it out. Since you're showing so much leg, keep your top fairly conservative with a crew or scoop neck tank. Throw on a denim jacket for a more casual look. If you're going to a fancier date, a boyfriend blazer works equally as well. On bottom, steer clear of a stiletto and instead opt for a wedge or chunky platform. If you choose a colour similar to your skin tone it can really help lengthen the leg.

Quick Tip: Men respond well to colour. So lighten the mood with something bright!
