4 Ways to Incorporate the Safari Trend

Use these ideas to start rocking the safari trend and close out summer with a statement.

Since the safari trend undoubtedly comes back into fashion every summer, it's definitely a trend worth the investment. Luckily, there are many ways any fashionista can get that rugged-chic style. Here are four ideas to get you started:

1. Anything-Animal
Chances are, you probably already have some type of animal print in your wardrobe. If not, there are plenty of affordable options at your local mall. Try mixing different animal prints together for a worldly traveller look, like a zebra blazer paired with a snakeskin necklace! The trick to mixing patterns is keeping them in the same colour family. With animal prints, sticking to a neutral colour palette is safest. You can always brighten your look with a trendy orange lipstick or green eyeliner.

2. Khaki Cool
Khaki colours are a great way to hop onto the safari bandwagon — just make sure you update the shade with modern accents. If you're going head-to-toe khaki, add a pop of colour (Red works beautifully!). For a fresh summer look, combine a khaki skirt or shorts with a crisp, white blouse. And maybe add a stone necklace that looks as if you picked it up on a trip to Africa. Flea markets are always a great starting point for these types of special pieces.

3. Luxe Leopard
To dress the safari trend up for a night out, look for luxe leopard pieces. Instead of skin-tight spots, focus on breezy dresses and skirts. Then glam it up with metallics. Rather than gold accessories, try bronze for a more unique statement. This colour palette is beautiful with a summer glow. And don't be scared to add more than one safari element to your look! A gladiator sandal is incredibly chic with a spotted dress, as is a horn-embellished clutch.

4. Military Chic
If you’re looking to join the safari trend in one easy step, try a military-style jacket. While camouflage is popular this year, basic olive is a more versatile choice. To avoid looking boxy in the jacket, opt for pieces that have a drawstring waist so you can still show off your shape. You can wear these garments with denim, dresses, brights — basically anything in your wardrobe!

Quick Tip: When working the safari trend, go for a bronze glow by adding self-tanner and plenty of bronzer. Keep your eyelids golden and your hair natural with loose waves or a ponytail.
