4 Sophisticated Ways to Wear Pink

4 Sophisticated Ways to Wear Pink

Love pink but can’t find ways to wear it? Try one of these four fresh (not-too-girly) ways!

Pink brings up many adjectives: girly, adorable, feminine and sweet. Sophisticated doesn't exactly come to mind. But if you took a look at the fall runways, you might start to think differently. Designers showed luxe magenta coats, rich silk rose skirts and even fuchsia feathers! Here are four ways to bring the colour into your wardrobe this season while still looking polished and fashion forward.

1. The Blazer
A bold jacket is an easy way to update your wardrobe. Go for a bright berry hue to really make a statement. During the week, you can pair it with black slacks and a black shell to bring a fun factor to the workplace. Over the weekend, use it to dress up a pair of jeans and a white T-shirt or pair it with a black and white dress or printed skirt for a night out.

2. The Dress
Get rid of any past notions of prom dresses from yesteryear. This season, the pink dress has matured. Look for sheath styles with a high neckline and a three-quarter or long sleeve. While models went matchy-matchy on the runways, in real life, use neutral accents. A nude shoe and gold bag plays up the look while still remaining everyday. When temperatures drop, swap your bare legs for opaque black tight and matching pumps.

3. The Cardigan
Cardigans are ideal layering pieces for cooler seasons. When wearing a pink sweater, think outside the box for your colour scheme. Be a fashion rebel and mix pink with a bright red or try a contrast with a bright cobalt blue. If the thought of so much colour is overwhelming, pink works equally as well with soft greys or even winter white.

4. The Bag
Probably the easiest way to add pink to your wardrobe is with a handbag. This is a great solution for adding a pop of colour if your closet consists of mostly neutral or black tones.

Still not ready to give pink clothing a try? Go the beauty route with hot pink lipstick. The bold colour instantly livens up any basic black dress in your wardrobe.
