2 Style Staples to Transition Your Look

2 Style Staples to Transition Your Look

These two stylish clothing items will work no matter what time of year.

Start planning for your post-winter wardrobe with the ultimate colour duo: blush and black. You can get a head start on this chic combo now by gearing up with staple pieces that’ll take your look from fall to winter to spring. For starters, soft pink pieces are perfect for incorporating pastels into your winter wardrobe, while black accents can be used to toughen up the sweetness of your look. Here are two outfit ideas to get you started.

1. Leather Accents
Look for a blush dress that you can wear year-round. Jersey is always a safe bet (plus the material travels so well). For fall, add some edge with a thick black belt and heavy moto jacket. If the weather allows, add a pair of studded pumps. Once it gets too cold for bare legs, you can wear black tights and a matching bootie.

2. Pleated Perfection
A pleated skirt is a great staple to take you from fall into spring. Find one that hits just above or just below the knee. Anything shorter may take away from the classiness of your look. Plus, these skirts allow for some air so the flowy composition of a shorter skirt could welcome an unwanted embarrassing moment!

To make the skirt less ballerina and more fashion forward, add a tailored black blazer. The bottom of the blazer shouldn't go past your hips (so save those boyfriend styles for your jeans). For the top, play around with what you have in your closet: A striped tee, a cable-knit sweater or a classic turtleneck are all great options. Adding an edgy element or two like chunky jewellery, a moto boot or over-the-knee boot to contrast the sweet skirt is key.
