5 Ways to Radiant Skin This Winter

There’s little time for your skin this month, but here are 5 ways to get through the season.

This time of year is a perfect storm for skin – a busy schedule, it’s colder and windier – and the last thing on your mind is taking care of your skin. That is, until you’re dealing with cracked lips or flaky skin.

Your skin takes a beating in the wintertime. Fight back with the right strategy – and the right products – and you can come out with glowing, moisturized skin through the frosty season.

1. The Right Products
Olay offers a bevy of great products that will help you get through the winter. From renewing cleansers to spot treatments to lotions with sunscreen (yes, you need sunscreen in the winter, too; consider ProX Age Repair Lotion with Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30 having the right product on hand is the first step to taking care of your skin this season. Especially with the stress of the season, it’s easy to fit these products – and a consistent skincare regimen – into your busy schedule.

2. Turn down the Temp
It’s tempting during winter months to crank up the heat in the shower and thaw out from the cold. In fact, showers or baths that are too hot (or that last too long) can actually dry out the skin. That’s why fingers are wrinkled after a bath.

3. Get a Humidifier
If you don’t have one already, now is the time to buy. Central heat and space heaters blast dry, hot air all day and night. Humidifiers create more moisture in the air, which will help prevent your skin from drying out.

4. Stay Dry
You want to be able to go sledding with the kids or run errands without worry, but you don’t want to be stuck with sopping west hands and feet, either. That’s bad for skin. Put an extra pair of gloves and wool socks in your car or purse. And then if you do happen to step in that puddle, you’ve got backup.

5. Don’t Skip the Scarf
Hat, scarf, gloves, coat, boots. Every time. If you want to care for your skin this winter, minimizing its exposure to the harsh elements is always a great approach. Even if it’s just a short trip or you think you’ll only be outside for a few minutes, you won’t regret grabbing that scarf to ensure you’re protected from the cold.
