5 Quick and Versatile Hairstyles for Every Day

5 Quick and Versatile Hairstyles for Every Day

Steal the show no matter what the occasion with these five do-it-yourself hairstyles.

When you’ve just come home from a long day, spending time in front of the mirror doing your hair is likely the last thing you want to do. Use these five styles to add a touch of class in minutes.

1. Ponytail with Volume
A low ponytail, with its high crown and gentle romantic waves, is not only safe for the office, it’s also ideal for parties.

How?
Comb all your hair — except the front sections of your hair — carefully and slowly back (only the base of the roots). Once every part has been combed back, apply some hairspray to set the hair. To remove the volume after the party, just comb your locks using a conditioner and a comb with wide teeth.

2. Sleek Retro Look
This ’50s-inspired retro hairstyle helps keep the hair out of your eyes, which complements a new dress and allows you to see all the turning heads.

How?
Skip the hair straightener and just use the hair dryer for more volume and texture. This will give you a gentle and straight look with plenty of movement. Starting at the front of your hairline, take the upper ends of your hair and pull them tight toward your crown. Use bobby pins to fix it in place.

Use a strengthening shampoo and conditioner to protect your hair against the heat of the styling tool and apply a repairing cream to repair split ends and protect your hair from any damage.

3. Chic Side-ponytail
A side-ponytail can easily come across as too childlike, but that won't happen if you set the ponytail below your ear, where it will naturally fall across your shoulder.

How?
Wrap your hair around a thin curling iron, starting from the centre parting to the ends. Before you make a ponytail, brush your crown and front hair in the direction you desire.

Carefully add height by backcombing the back crown. Set the hair in place using a hair tie. Brush your ponytail and use a mild gel down the sides to set it firmly in place and contain the loose strands.

Use an anti-frizz shampoo and conditioner to protect your locks from damage. At the same time, you will keep wavy hair in check and add a silky-soft finish.

4. Refined Bangs
Give basic bangs an added elegance with the way this style frames your face.

Combine this fringe with gentle loose waves for a fun evening look or a casual, messy style during the day.

How?
Dry your bangs straight down using a round brush. To create extra softness, just pull the ends of your bangs through the hair straightener. Comb your hair with your fingers toward the side and apply some hair spray to keep it in place. Use a mild anti-frizz shampoo and conditioner. This will keep your hair in check, giving you a silky soft look.

5. Hollywood Waves
A glamorous hairstyle is always a perfect accessory to a fabulous outfit.

How?
Apply mousse to damp hair, and then dry your locks straight with a broad, flat hairbrush. Use medium curlers to curl the back and sides of your hair downward. For the front, use thinner curlers and curl it toward the back. To create a flowing wave, just brush your hair toward the back and soften it with your hand. Use a heat-protectant shine spray.

No matter where you’re going, if you sport one of these hairstyles, you’ll be sure to make a statement.
